About Us

Benjamin’s Landing, located in Harford County Maryland, is owned and operated by Ben and Bobbie Lowe.  Ben, a life-long farmer, and Bobbie, a retired school teacher, have hoped to create a place totally different from other agricultural venues.

The couple have brought four farms together:  Lowe Farms, McDermott Road Farm, land at Mt. Olivet Church Road and The Wright Place.  In 2007 the first gourd patch was planted at the Mt. Olivet location.  Much to their surprise 500 gourds appeared for harvest.  What a shock!  Bobbie attended a gourd crafting class at Harford Community College and the fun began.  She was hooked.  Ben and Bobbie found that there were so many types of gourds and so much to be done with them.  Credit must also be given to the Pennsylvania Gourd Society for all the information they provided on growing and crafting.

Benjamin’s Landing has four purposes for their gourds:  sale of raw gourds, sale of painted gourds, sale of hand pollinated seeds and educating the public. The Landing offers two types of programs: power point presentations/lecture and hands-on instruction.  Bobbie has compiled various programs about planting and raising gourds.  She also has presented programs on the history of gourds and on gourds in the Bible.  She creates programs to individual group interests.  Along with educating the public about gourds, Bobbie also leads craft programs to demonstrate the practical applications of this agricultural product. Visitors to The Landing learn the total process from planting in the greenhouse to a finished product.  If your group is unable to come to Bobbie…Bobbie will come to your group.

Have a Good Time…Have a Gourd Time at the Landing.
